One event we have to admit we always thoroughly enjoy catering for is retirement parties. To see someone who has worked hard all their lives finally retiring and getting to kick back and relax is wonderful. In our eyes there is no better way to mark the entrance into retirement and a new chapter of life than with a Hog Roast Brentford.
Helen had been a paediatric nurse for over fifty years, and it had finally come time for her to retire. The hospital trust where she had worked for most of her life was throwing a retirement party in her honour, inviting past patients, staff and of course family members it was clear to us that she was going to be dearly missed in the department.
The party was being held at the town hall which was situated not far from the hospital meaning people didn’t have far to travel and so that staff who had to work on the day could still pop over for half an hour during their break times. We prepared a special menu of slow roasted lamb and seasonal vegetables. Helen specially requested our fluffy, goose fat roasted potatoes as these were her favourite and we were happy to oblige, making sure we made a double portion just in case!
The staff had all clubbed together to get Helen a leaving present and a cake that had a fondant figure of Helen in her nursing uniform which she said she would cherish forever, how lovely! Helen made a toast thanking everyone for attending and for being brilliant colleagues and supportive family members over her time at the trust. She finished by saying how she was sorry to be leaving an would no doubt be in for a visit but that she couldn’t wait to begin her retirement and get to spend more time with her own family.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the room as we served up our Hog Roast Brentford. We would like to wish you a happy retirement Helen!
