On a wintery day, nothing beats a freshly made Hog Roast Wigston to warm you up. This weekend was Danielle and John’s wedding day and being in the midst of December they were expecting it to be a cold one which is why they had enlisted our help to supply them and their guests with some wholesome good food on the day.
We arrived bright and early to the local stately home where the reception was being held. As any good chef knows to get the best meat you need to give it plenty of time to cook in its juices if you want perfectly succulent meat. Hog Roast Wigston are experts at this as we know it can take up to 12 hours to cook a hog whole depending on its size and how many guests it needs to feed. On this occasion, we only needed a medium-sized hog and so 6 hours would be plenty of time for the meat to become melt in the mouth delicious.
Along with the hog we would be serving up our classic accompaniments of seasonal vegetables and roasted potatoes. There would be plenty of freshly baked rolls on the side and of course our chef’s homemade applesauce that he makes on-site where possible. This would not be complete without our Hog Roast Wigston renowned crunchy crackling that people really do go crazy for.
With everything set, we were ready to serve and just in time as the guests arrived. As it was a more informal affair, we were serving our food buffet style and already had a large queue forming. First in line was the father of the bride, who told us he was the designated ‘taste tester’ and had to have a large serving of everything just to check on the quality. It’s safe to say he was more than impressed and waved on the rest of the line as he happily ate away. What a lovely day and all the best to the happy couple!
