Hog Roast Sunbury wrapped up the last of our Halloween celebrations on Friday night with a disco that we had been asked to cater for at a nearby college. The party had been organised by some of the students there, who, after a year and a half of distance learning, zoom calls and isolation, had grouped together to plan a creeptacular night of spooky fun in the school’s dining hall.
The organisers had set aside 500 tickets for the fancy dress event, and these quickly sold out after going on sale a few weeks before the occasion. All of the money raised was then put towards decorations, party games and food, the latter of which Hog Roast Sunbury had been asked to provide.
With lots of hungry youths to feed, our crew had offered to help the organisers put together a custom menu, which they were all fully on board with. And after spending some time going over their options in more detail, it was decided that our Southern Slow Roast Menu would be the best choice for the night, with an added option of cheese, ham and roast chicken sandwiches, along with a large platter of crisps, cold meats, vegetarian quiche and fruits for the guests to help themselves to.
Hours before the party was scheduled to begin, Hog Roast Sunbury arrived on campus to prepare for the night ahead of them. This involved setting up the HogMaster and putting the pre-marinated beef brisket, Cajun-spiced chicken and BBQ pork butt in the machine to slow roast, along with the meat-free option of BBQ pulled jackfruit. While the meat and jackfruit sizzled away, the catering team whipped up the sandwiches, which they sliced into triangles and served on bamboo boards alongside bowls of Memphis style crunchy coleslaw, potato salad, seasonal green leaf salad and mixed fries.
When the students descended on the venue wearing their full Halloween get-ups later that evening, their first stop was the buffet table, which had successfully filled the hall with a combination of mouth-watering aromas. The food tasted as delicious as it smelled, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed stuffing their faces with the vast assortment of treats available at the Hog Roast Sunbury station.
